I’m Stuart, a qualified integrative counsellor and accredited member of the BACP. Whatever your role in life, I am here to listen and support you on your journey, giving you the opportunity to effect positive change and growth with care and compassion.
After graduating with a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling from Durham University, my counselling career began with Northumberland County Blind Association and Northumbria Sight Services. As part of a team (including Consultant’s GPs, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists and the RNIB Liaison Officer at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle upon Tyne), my role provided emotional support to clients suffering from the effects of partial or total sight loss in helping regain their confidence to live independently in their own homes. I have also continued to work with clients referred by the Diocese of Durham and Newcastle for over twenty years.
I also took time out being a carer for relatives with life-limiting illnesses, so aware of and have experienced the effects, pressures and impacts of long-term caring. Since my return to counselling several years ago, I have supported Students and University Staff, members of the Emergency Services and Military Veterans. My counselling also includes working with the Caring, Teaching, Veterinary, Legal, and Ecclesiastical professions, as well as Farming Communities.
After living on working farms over the past twenty-five years, I understand that the day-to-day trials and crises affect the farming community. From experience, I know that bottling things up and suffering in silence can be detrimental to our well-being. That’s why I offer a peaceful and respectful space for anyone struggling to offload concerns and stresses that affect daily life.
